Claude Default Model Just Changed

Free upgrade alert, and those are rare enough to actually notice.
Anthropic just swapped the default Claude model for both Free and Pro users. You didn't have to click anything, didn't have to pay more, and the thing under the hood got better.
What changed
The new default is Claude Sonnet 4.6. The headline improvements are better coding and better computer use, which is the part where Claude can actually operate software instead of just talking about it.
And the price? Same as before. (A model upgrade with no upsell. Mark the calendar, it doesn't happen often.)
Better coding, better computer use, no price change. That's the whole memo.
If you use Claude on Free or Pro, you're already on it. Go push it harder than you did last week and see what the upgrade actually buys you.
