Why Claude on Mobile Feels Broken (It's Not)

I almost threw my phone across the room.
I opened Claude on mobile expecting the same setup I'd built on desktop. The skills I'd installed, gone. Couldn't build a skill from my phone. Couldn't edit one either. My files and projects didn't carry over the way I expected. Half my setup just wasn't there.
Nobody warns you about this. You install Claude, you build out a solid system on desktop, and then you open the app on your phone assuming it's the same tool in a smaller window. It's not. It's missing pieces, and if you don't know that going in, it feels like the product is broken.
It's not broken. It's just a different job.
Stop Expecting Parity
I spent a while fighting this before I gave up. I kept trying to do desktop-level work on my phone and getting annoyed when the skills weren't there or the files wouldn't load right. That's on me, not on Claude.
Once I stopped expecting mobile to be a smaller version of desktop, the frustration disappeared. Because it was never supposed to be the same experience. It's a separate tool that happens to share a name.
The phone was never a smaller desktop. It's a different tool wearing the same name.
Give Each Device a Job
Here's what I actually do now. My phone is for thinking. Planning an idea, drafting a script, working through a plan while I'm standing in line or sitting on a couch. Low stakes, low structure, just get the thinking out of my head and onto a screen.
The real building waits until I'm at my desk. Skills, files, projects, the heavy lifting, all of it happens on desktop where the full toolkit actually exists.
This isn't a workaround. It's just matching the tool to what it's actually built for. Mobile Claude was never going to run your entire workflow, and treating it like it should is where the frustration comes from, not from any flaw in the app itself.
Give your phone the job of thinking. Give your desk the job of building. Stop expecting one device to do both, and mobile stops being the thing that annoys you every morning.
Figure out which device is doing which job in your own workflow, and stop forcing one tool to do a job it was never built for.
