ChatGPT Says Certainly Every Time? One Line Fix

"Certainly!" "Sure!" "Great question!" "I'd be happy to help with that!"
Every single answer starts with a warm-up lap before it gets to the point. You did not ask for a personality. You asked for an answer. (The enthusiasm is doing a lot of unpaid emotional labor here.)
The fix
Add this line to your prompt or your custom instructions:
"Skip all acknowledgements and filler openers. Start directly with the answer."
Now it drops the throat-clearing and gets to work.
Why the model does this in the first place
ChatGPT was trained to sound friendly and agreeable, so it front-loads politeness like a waiter who really wants the tip. Useful in a chat. Annoying when you are copying answers into real work twelve times an hour.
Put that line in your custom instructions once and it sticks across every conversation. Set it and forget it.
You are not being rude. You are being efficient. Go reclaim those words.
