ChatGPT Ignoring Your Tone? Pin It With This

ChatGPT Ignoring Your Tone? Pin It With This

You tell ChatGPT to write casual and punchy. It does, for one message. Then it slowly drifts back into polished corporate mush like it never heard you. (Goldfish memory, but make it a chatbot.)

The fix is not nagging it every message. The fix is pinning the tone where it cannot drift.

Put the tone in custom instructions

A tone you type into one message lives only in that message. As the conversation grows, that instruction gets buried and the model leans back on its defaults.

Custom instructions sit above every conversation. Put your tone rules there and they apply to every chat, every time, no reminder needed.

A tone you have to repeat is a tone the model will forget. Pin it once, above the chat, and it stops drifting.

Make the tone specific

"Casual" is too vague. The model fills the gap with its own idea of casual, which is somehow still a little stiff. Spell it out: short sentences, no buzzwords, a little dry humor, talk like a smart friend.

The more concrete the description, the less room it has to drift. Give it three or four real adjectives and an example, and it locks in.

Stop re-explaining your voice every chat. Pin it once and get on with your day.
