Make Your AI Check Its Own Work

Make Your AI Check Its Own Work

You know what cut my AI editing time in half? Not a fancier model. Not a longer prompt. A checklist.

One small addition, and the amount of garbage I had to fix dropped off a cliff.

Tell it what good looks like

Most people ask AI for a result and never define what a good result actually is. Then they are surprised when it hands back something technically correct and completely off.

Give it the standard up front. Under 500 words. Three concrete examples. No hype words. Whatever "good" means for your task, spell it out as a checklist the model can grade itself against before it hands you anything.

An AI without a checklist gives you its first draft. An AI with one gives you its checked draft. Those are very different documents.

The self-check is the whole trick

Here is what changes when you add this. The model does the work, then it has to run its own output against your list before it is allowed to call the job done. Caught its own missing example? Fix it. Used a banned hype word? Rewrite. You never even see the bad version.

Fewer bad answers. Way fewer. You stop being the human quality filter for problems the AI could have caught itself.

Write down what "good" means for your most common task. Bolt it on as a self-check. Get half your editing time back.
